Thanks to groupon my roommate and I found this hidden gem. Great food, very comfortable seats, and great customer service. I recommend their spicy bbq boneless wings and chips and queso! Very good!
(5)Ed D.
There for the first time last week. Service was good and food was not bad either. Buffalo chicken wrap could have used better cuts of chicken but still good.
(4)Kris V.
They have very good food for a theater. Better than all the others we have been too. Love the push button service through out the movie. Gold Class used to do it but stopped when it changed to iPic. The service here is excellent. And they show football on the big screen. Sold.
(5)Samantha G.
Great movies, food and service. Get the Groupons when you can. They have specials on Tuesdays and Thursdays: $1 Sliders, $5 off select beer pitchers and $7 tickets all day. This is truly a hidden gem. Definitely better than Muvico any day. Never crowded and hardly any screaming or crying kids. Perfect for dates or a get together with friends.

Since the only other dine-in theater I have been to is the Hollywood Palms, I will have to use it as a comparison. Let me start off by saying that the inside of this place is great! Beautiful soft seats, a lovely bar as you walk in, a very upscale looking bathroom and beautiful murals of movie icons on the walls. The owners of the theater definitely took time to make this place look like a five-star establishment. However, appearances can be deceiving. First off, ordering works on a paging system. You hit a little button on the front of your table and it is supposed to signal a server to come to your table. I thought that was pretty neat and would be useful in the dark! We arrived in the middle of the previews and met our group, and a server came to take our drink orders. I had a Poolside Lemonade, and my partner had the Castaway. We also ordered the Texas-style potato skins with no onions. Our drinks did not come until 15 minutes into the movie, about half an hour after we ordered, and the potato skins came with onions on them. We sent them back and waited some more. Our drinks had absolutely no alcohol in them, mine was essentially juice. I tasted my partner's and it was just lime juice and ginger beer. A different server brought us our potato skins again with no onions, and we asked to exchange the Castaway for an Anti-Hero (beer). The server responded, "You need to push your button." Rude! He couldn't even say, "Let me get your server," or "Sure, let me inform your server." I thought that was rude. Any other restaurant would have just taken the order. My partner ordered his entree with his drink and our appetizer, and I ordered mine a little bit later, but they both came out at the same time, about halfway through the movie. What took so long? I ordered the Chicken Run sandwich, grilled chicken with provolone cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo. It came with seasoned fries. Fries were pretty standard fries. This sandwich tasted exactly like the chicken club sandwich from McDonald's, including rubbery chicken and rubbery bacon, but I was pretty hungry and was not going to wait until the movie was over to get another entree. My partner had the Porky's burger, he said it was good. We only saw our server when he took our appetizer/drink order and when he was giving us the check. I was incredibly disappointed in the food and experience at this theater. I am even more disappointed knowing that they are taking over the Hollywood Palms. Hollywood Palms has an amazing system, where orders are taken almost as soon as you sit down and the food comes out as it is ready and it is always hot and delicious. The drinks definitely have alcohol in them, the servers will get you whatever you need, no matter if they are your server or not, and there is always a server in the theater! You don't need to press a stupid button to page someone who may or may not come. I pressed the button once or twice and each time it took about 10/15 minutes for someone to get there. High volume is not really an excuse either, as HP has about the same volume of customers and gets the food and orders out quickly and correctly. I will not be returning to Star Cinema Grill, and if they implement the same policies and procedures at the Hollywood Palms in Naperville, they will lose my business as well.

Absolutely fantastic experience!!! I have a feeling that Village of AH restricts them from doing something to the uninviting exterior but inside will blow you away. Very modern and clean. Food and drinks were surprisingly good (I did not expect to find quality food in the movie theater)
(5)Robert Q.
This movie theater was the best experience I ever had at any theater! Initially we went there because we were hungry as well. Did you know Tuesday and Thursday are the best days! $7 movies and so many discounts on food AND drinks! When you sit down, in front of you is a table along with a menu and paper to order. Once you press the button your host or hostess will arrive to take order!! How cool is that! I love their exceptional customer service. Special shout out to our host Nick for being prompt and friendly as well as the manager on duty April 30th 10:30p show. My friend left her purse there. After realizing when we got home, we called and she literally waited until 1:30 in the morning to hand off the bag. WOAH!! Definitely a company who cares about their customers. Please take anyone there or just yourself because it is an awesome experience! I will be returning!
(5)Mark J.
This place is a great place to see a show with a date or with the family. Food portions are plentiful and the servers are very courteous. Spacious seating makes for a relaxed experience. Sometimes service can be a little on the slower side, but understand that there are a lot of people in those theaters!
(4)Gary H.
We were thrilled when this place first appeared, perfect for us. The food was really good, service great, and the seats were perfect. As time has passed its still a wonderful place to watch a movie, and the service passes - the problem is the food. The quality of the preparation and delivery of the food has taking a steady downturn over the last year sadly. Saturday we ordered the special nachos and the burger with bacon. The nachos cheese was ice cold and it seemed like the burger bacon was overcooked, it turned out they left the paper on the burger which separates it in storage. YUCK - I had eaten half the burger before I figured it out. The manager absorbed our bill and gave a couple passes, but jeeze you would think they could get that right. We really want this place to make it as we hate other theaters now that we have Star Grill. We just wont order any food anymore,,,sadly.
(3)Gina T.
This is the coolest, nicest, cleanest, best movie theatre I've ever been to! This is my first time coming to a theatre that services food and you can eat while you watch a movie. The menu has practically everything. I had the burger with fries and a drink. The drink is huge and the portions are more than enough. The seats are so roomy, nice and white. You have a lot of leg room in front of you which I like. You have a little table in front of you. It was a really great experience. The movie theatre even had a bar outside which was really cool. Everything was great and I love the fact that the movie theatre is really clean. Even the bathrooms are really nice. I definitely can't wait to go back. I've been dreaming about it!
(5)Tasty X.
I like to see movies here because I don't have to get out of my seat to order beer. That is all.
(3)Lupe D.
I really like this theater - it is so out of the way for us that it seems like our little secret. Besides that, the theater is so adorable. The decor, the bar (yes I said the bar), the bathrooms are awesome. The theaters are really nice. The food, in my opinion is very reasonably priced. It's comparable to eating at a restaurant, but you get it brought to you in the movie theater. The only item that I thought was overpriced were the sodas/iced tea. over $3, and no free refills - however, they are pretty big glasses. As far as taste, everything we had was pretty good!! Every person that helped us was super-nice, making the experience so much fun, from the girl who sold us our ticket, to the young man who thanked us for coming. We will definitely be returning here - even though it is pretty far from where we live.
(4)Katie S.
I always go to Star Cinema Grill with my best friend to watch a movie. The food is good, the seats are comfy, good movies and wonderful staff.
(5)Steve F.
Star Cinema is a great theater cant beat specials Tuesday through Thursday $7 ita a dinner Cinema seating is great they bring your food and drinks to you seat watching your movie
(5)F C.
The best theater in Illinois. My fiance and I really enjoyed this theater. The food was delicious. A wonderful environment. This was worth the 45 minute drive we took. Reasonable prices
(5)Amanda D.
A girlfriend and mine went and saw a movie and ate dinner here for the first time last week and we are definitely coming back!!! The food is absolutely wonderful!! Seriously delicious!! The service was great and promt and the table is right in front of you so easy to eat! The drinks are nothing to ride home about though. Downfall is that the chairs don't recline all the way major disappointment but for the food alone we will be back!!!
(5)Anna F.
I love this place! Certainly my husband and my favorite movie theater. In the past year and a half, we've gone here at least a month. It is decent expensive, the tickets are $10-12 per person, but only $5 on Tuesday. The drinks are quite pricey, not too many food and drink specials, but the experience of eating and drinking during a movie is a lot of fun. The theaters are also clean and the staff is friendly. The bathroom sinks are cool too. You can also order tickets online ahead of time I think. I forgot to mention the food- I love their fries! I've also gotten the chicken tenders which are alright and the sliders on Tuesdays which are good
(4)Melissa G.
We love Star Cinema Grill!! We live close, so we just walk on over at least a couple of times per month. Some things that I love in particular about this place is that there is a fairly well stocked bar that you can grab a drink at prior to the movie, the chairs in the theater are leather (seems much more sanitary for a public setting), there is a pretty decent selection of food and it's actually good, the tickets are basically the same price as any other theater (and sometimes you can even land a deal from Groupon), and the swanky women's bathroom.:)
(5)Dan R.
I really wanted to give this place 4 or 5 stars considering the location and the cool setup on the inside.....but....the food. It might have been the worst I have ever ordered off a menu. I'm not one of those people who sends stuff back, but I was close. Shrimp tacos were awful. Positives: Very friendly server Cheap matinee prices Cool (and clean) venue Location, location, location: love downtown AH The positives are enough to let me give this place another try - hopefully the food will be edible.
(3)Alfred C.
I remember this place when it was just a regular theater, and now they turned it into a dine-in-theater. This isn't the the first of its kind that I've been to and its most certainly not the best. The pros are that the stadium seatings are very nice and roomy, I never felt cramped. They have a nice bar area in the front where you can get a drink while waiting for your movie to start. The staff is very professional and accommodating. Cons are that the food just aren't very good. I tried the gyro...dry, Philly Cheese Steak...dry, chicken tenders...yup you guessed it dry. The tacos were bland and don't even try the pasta, its taste like they poured tomato sauce on top and just microwaved it. Granted, its a dine-in-theater so I didn't expect a 5-star restaurant but man try a little harder. I do have to mention that I tried their burgers last time and it was ok. Overall, its a good place to catch a flick but if you're hungry order at your own risk.
(3)Tracy M.
We had an impromptu family night out. I don't even know where I heard about this theater, but I'm glad we went! I actually liked this MUCH MUCH better than the other dinner and a movie place in Barington. This was REGULAR food. The servers were great - prompt and courteous. The screen and sound was excellent quality. My sandwich (a cuban of sorts) was awesome. My son's pizza was good. And the popcorn was real movie popcorn - not prepackaged yuckiness we've gotten at other dinner/movie places. I didn't get around to ordering my drink. The whole experience - popcorn, drinks, dinner and tickets was $100 for our family of four. I don't know that we could have gotten the same deal if we went to the AMC and Chilis. I hope it sticks around. Also, the mgr heard me say how great a time I had and he looked genuinely pleased, which was nice.
(5)Maxine W.
Come for the movie, stay for the legroom. If movie theaters are like airplanes, AMC is coach and iPic is first class. Star Cinema Grill is like business class. You get plenty of legroom, which is a huge deal for me and my long legs and my creaky knees. Theres a full menu and a bar. When I came here I had a pineapple express (a delicious pinappley rum drink) and a chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was wrong- had cheese on it when I asked for none, and the fries were freeeezing cold. I sent it back and they kind of fixed it. The fries were fresh and lovely, and the sandwich looked new until I flipped it over and saw where the breading was missing where they scraped the cheese off. It tasted alright though. I think when I come back I'll go for more classic movie theater fare.
(4)Ariana W.
Star Cinema Grill was very nicely decorated, has nice bathrooms and is well kept. My boyfriend and I went last night to catch a late Transformers 4 show. He ordered a drink and he liked it. We had just come from dinner so we didn't get any food. I will definitely go there again.
(5)Michelle M.
This theater is amazing. Definitely my favorite that I've ever been to! Best in the area. They have great specials, service is excellent, environment is classy, and it is in a great location.
(5)Tina L.
Thanks, Groupon! What a great deal for a weekday date night! Came here on a Thursday evening to watch Gravity in 3D. They have a Thursday special for $5 off a pitcher of beer, which was good and bad. Good because how is it not awesome to get a deal on a pitcher of Blue Moon? Bad because I went to the restroom 4 times that night LOL. But that's more my problem... Moving on. The food is OK, but what can you expect for movie food? Just a lot of fried goodness, popcorn and lotsa butter...Just writing this review is making my arteries clog. Overall, such a fun experience being able to eat, drink and enjoy a great 3D movie! I would suggest coming on a weeknight since it's probably not as busy as the weekend, so you get to pick a nice spot to sit in the theatre.
(5)Larry K.
Great Theater. Wide comfy seats. Nobody kicking your seat from behind. Push a button and a quick food and drink service right at your seat. I would recommend getting your payment ready , if you purchase something, before movie starts. I found it somewhat distracting to be digging out my credit card in the dark while trying to watch the end of the movie.
(5)Meg R.
Great experience with nephew. Only complaint is that it was very cold in the theater. Other than that- great service, great ambiance.
(4)Kayla C.
It's a cute place to watch a movie and have dinner and drinks at the same time. They have a bar right before you walk into your show room. Once you are seated inside, your table has a couple menus and a button you can press whenever you wish to order something. The staff has always been friendly whenever we go. If you're going to get a drink I highly recommend the "Tropic Thunder".
(5)Sandra Y.
I love the idea of eating (or even just getting a snack) while I'm watching a movie. I went here with 2 other people today. You buy your ticket, go in the theater, pick a seat. There are tables in front of the seats. They kinda go by twos, I guess for couples or something. Then there are menus in little slots under the tables. You can either write down what you want on the papers (also in slots under the tables) or you can press a button on the table to get a server to take your order. We ordered Margherita pizza and onion rings. Just a little snack to munch on while we watched the movie. The food was alright. I've had better, but it wasn't terrible either. I want to try the other stuff on the menu tho & the drinks too. I loved it. It's perfect for date night or just a night out with friends. The service was great too. Although I wanted to take the leftover pizza home after the movie so I pressed the button & nobody came? Maybe I was too late or something. The bathrooms are really nice. Actually, the whole place looks new & clean & nice. I think I'll be back soon.
(4)A P.
Pros: It's a good place to take your kids, there is no flashy food ads. The seats are comfy. Cons: Don't order the food, its bad and it's late. Go to Panera Bread before your show. But if you do order food it's a hit or miss, today it took 1 hr to get our food and drinks the movie is almost over, and it was an 11am show with only about 15 people at the movie. The food was cold and did not taste fresh. So far 3 out of 3 times I got stomach pain from the food.
(2)Elisa L.
There's not many places where you can go in and dine while watching your movie. This is a great option to have, especially not having to leave your seat and miss a scene because you want a drink. The seats are relatively comfortable. The size of the table and the distance is good enough where nothing covers your view. My experience with the servers have all been positive. They are both speedy and respectful of their surroundings. I would have given this place a 4/5 stars but their ALWAYS changing policies are annoying. I had 2 expired Groupons I wanted to use today. I had paid $5 for each of them so regardless of when I would redeem them, they already have my $5 (there is no loss). First, don't be fooled by their Tuesday and Thursday all day $7 movies. If it's a premier, they will deny this advertisement and charge you $11.50, regardless of their displayed prices and your age (I saw them charge a 4 year old for #11.50). Expired Groupons will also be rejected (although in the Groupons policy, it clearly states that it can be redeemed anytime - but I'm not going to waste my time arguing). But I was told that if I come back tomorrow, I could use my expired Groupon that I had paid $5 for and get $5 off my movie, ALTHOUGH I would have gotten the SAME $5 today... logic? Would I go back? Sure, it's a good place to hit 2 birds with one stone. My lessons learned: if I'm getting a Groupon I better make sure I use it on time since this place is not so friendly about people redeeming expired ones. Oh, and always make sure to see if they changed their policy AGAIN... smh...
(3)Gerry A.
Way better than I expected. We came in on a $5 groupon, but it is only $7 on Tuesday & Thursday anyway, I don't understand any whining about not being senior or children priced friendly or the food overpriced. Pretty slick way to wrap up dinner AND a movie. Very friendly movie staff and servers. Looks like a pretty safe place to drop your kids, or seniors off. I trusted Howard C. on this one, and he was right. This place is better than ok, tons of legroom (don't trip the servers ;~) and prices aren't that bad for a night out. Tues and Thursay there are specials like $1.25 for sliders, $3 drafts and $5 off a pitcher of beer, and we liked the largeish $6 house salad, onions rings pretty good, and the sweet potato fries looked even better. Service isn't super fast but just relax into being served in the movie theater, I liked it. I also like carrying Turkey salad into the Catlow from BOLONEY'S. Getting there about 30 minutes early is perfect so you don't have to do the cellphone flashlight on your menus, your neighbors will appreciate that. I had expected the servers and neighbors eating to bother me but it wasn't bad at all, and I did have a cell phone flashlight menu reading neighbor, but it actually made it a little more guilt free when you were whispering to your partner during the movie, because so was everybody else, quietly. It is a little tricky to get out of the seats with the table in front of you but I still like to hold my food down when I can. I didn't see the magic of the 4k screen, my plasma is definitely better, but good enuf and the sound was fine. Our screen was kind of over on the left side of the room for some reason, like somebody very non-Union afterhours hung that one. We are fans, try it.
(4)Jo S.
This is the closest dinner and movie experience to me. My fiancee and I enjoy going here, especially on weeknights when we want to watch a movie but don't have time to get dinner and watch a movie afterwards. The food isn't great, but it's good. We've been here at least 10 times and never had a bad experience.
(4)Howard C.
For one, I hope we all know to NEVER pay attention to someone with no friends and one or two reviews. For two, this place is still fantastic! We love it! Best ticket prices around. Especially when there is a groupon. The food really isn't that overpriced. I wish I could be present and sitting next to anyone who has had a bad experience here. I'm 6'2" and while I can't go around folding one leg over the other I am FAR from being uncomfortable. Anyone that is shorter than 6 foot that feels uncomfortable was probably not hugged enough when they were a kid. Live the dream, eat and watch a movie at the same time. My motto in life, don't listen to idiots. Enjoy!
(5)Carl J.
It's really an awesome theater, full bar, with a full restaurant. It's gluten free friendly with a a lot or tasty options. They even have an awesome gluten free pizza. They have underground parking and the other patrons are always nice and respectful. It's a nice date spot or place to grab dinner and a movie with a friend or family. I really wish more theaters would cater to the customer the way this place does.
(5)Donald O.
It's a nice theater. Prices were a little high and parking can be a little challenging. But the seats were comfortable
(4)Eileen B.
We went to Star Cinema last night to see Las Vegas. The box office attendent was very welcoming from the moment we walked up. She directed us inside to assist us with our expired Groupon. Immediately another young lady again welcomed us, took care of redeeming the Groupon & directed us to Theater 5. As suggested we arrived early & so did everyone else. The theater was pretty full as there were many couples there to see Las Vegas. The theater was VERY CLEAN, no sticky floors etc! The restrooms were spotless. Even my date commented on this! Once in theater 5, we found it a little awkward that we had to walk in front of everyone in our aisle to get to the seats we selected. It would be nice to have an aisle on either side to avoid walking infront of the entire row of patrons who were already seated. Unfortunately the servers have the same obstacle once the movie starts. Being able to access the aisle from either side would have been a plus. The menu has clever movie related names for there food & drink choices. We buzzed for the server, he arrived quickly & politely introduced himself as Devon. Took our order & said he would be back in a moment with our drinks. Unfortunately, more than 15 minutes elapsed before we buzzed to find out what happened to our drinks. We were well into the previews at this point. A different server responded to our call carrying our drinks & sat them on the table. No apology for the delay. Set the drinks down & scurried out! The previews finished & the movie had begun before our pizza was brought to the table (again by someone other than Devon). I would have liked some red pepper or parmesan cheese with it but it was not offered. Actually for the amount of time we waited for our pizza I would have expected it to be piping hot! Althouigh it was tasty it was only warm! Devon reappeared wihtout disturbance & left our check on the table. It did seem odd to us that we were about to tip our server when he actually HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH SERVING US. Overall we like the theaters concept & will give it another chance. However it would be wonderful if the manager works on the areas which need improvement with their staff.

After reading the reviews, I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I went, but I had already purchased tickets through groupon, so My mind was already made up that I was going. My son and I had date night, but can't wait to come again for adult night out with my husband. I used mapquest to find the place, seeing I'm from the city(the only suggestion I have for the theatre is to place signs saying where exactly the movie theatre is) and almost missed it because its kinda hidden in a plaza styled setting As I walked up to the ticket counter to redeem my tickets(I'm outside of the theatre) I noticed the place looks really dark, but then I walk in...low and behold, I'm standing in an epitome of a perfect date night out. There are pics of the walls of Marilyn Monroe and other stars. The place is immaculate. I went to the lady's room (I have a bathroom fetish), and it was totally up to my standards. We walk into the room where the movie is showing, and I couldn't get over how beautiful the seats are. Food: our Groupon included free popcorn, so we stuck to the popcorn, and ordered beverages. I am definitely looking forward to going back for a dinner & a movie date night with my husband as I hear the food is great. Great service from the staff. By the way, I went to a 4:45 show on a Saturday. Without the groupon, per person would've been $8per ticket. Still not bad.

My husband and I saw Maleficent at this theater tonight. It is a clean theater located in cute downtown Arlington Heights. My poor review reflects the food and drinks we had for dinner. I ordered a cocktail with berries and mint: it was $10 and the glass was so small. My husband ordered their signature mac and cheese; it was just ok and lacked flavor. I ordered the "Tony Montana" sandwich: pulled pork, ham, cheese, pickles, mayo. The bread was very tough and hard to eat, pulled pork was really dry bc it had no sauce, and the cheese was gross. Our bill was over $40 not including the movie tickets. It the food was better, we would go back.
(2)Alexa T.
i absolutely love star cinema grill! the prices are extremely reasonable, the food is pretty darn good (esp for a movie theater), and you don't need to get up during the middle of the movie to go get some popcorn. what could be better?
(5)Jp T.
Just went to see Mad Max here. In the last minutes of the movie the waiter comes over to take away plates and collect the check. Since I'm WATCHING A MOVIE, I had not taken the time to sort out how much the bill was, or how I was going to pay, nor would I have been able to see in a dark theater to do so. I Intended to pay the bill as soon as I could see after the movie ended. Instead the waiter crouches in front of and us and just waits there for me to pay the bill. So I guess instead of watching the end of the movie I'm expected to figure out a tip and count money in a dark theater. I went to reach for my wallet and in the process knock the soda over in the cup holder all over my lap and seat. Movie going experience completely ruined. I will not be returning to this theater ever. Beside the awful customer service the food is one step below the worst bar food I've ever had.
(1)Emily C.
When they get it right it's a great experience. That said I've been 3 times and 2/3 times my food order never came. I thought the first time was a fluke but twice? I hope they worked out the kinks because it's nice little theatre to have locally.
(4)Jinah Y.
This place has completely transformed from the run-down theatre that used to occupy this space. The cheap tickets were nice but it is also nice to enjoy a movie in leather seats, a drink & people at your service! ATMOSPHERE: the chandeliers and plus red chairs are a nice touch along with the artwork adorning the walls; gives the place a chic feel so you feel like you're at a classy bar instead of the movies on a friday night FOOD/BEVS: everything was served hot & tasted great (3 amigos appetizers & chicken cavatappi pasta); went to an early movie so I didn't get to try out the cocktails but they sound yummy--will be back to try them (ALL)! THEATRE: screens have been completely upgraded for the best picture quality and the seats were so comfy that my daughter fell asleep VALUE: some people complain that the food is overpriced but it's as much as you would spend at the Cali Pizza Kitchen across the street; plus, the servers are super attentive & you can call them as often as you like without feeling annoying or be annoyed that they interrupt you every 5 minutes
(5)Elizabeth M.
Go for the experience of seeing a movie while sitting in big comfy chairs & eating dinner and drinking a beer. The food has never been amazing, I would call it average or slightly below average, but it is fine for the situation. If you order a Martini it will take 15-20 minutes. Stick with the basics with the food (ie, cheeseburger and fries) They have Groupons every now and then too.
(4)Stephanie H.
Best movie theatre in the area!!!!! Food and drinks are really good and seats r comfy. I won't go anywhere else. We're regulars.
(5)Karla V.
Amazing food, service and ambience plus the management is professional and savvy. I've been here on two occasions already and have had the chicken mac n cheese, buffalo chicken wrap, mozzarella sticks and the Chicago Hot Dog. The food is fresh and well made. Also, they show all the Bears games for free in theatre 1.
(5)Steve S.
Came here got great service, good selection of drinks and comfortable seats. I would definitely come here again recommend this to others. I will say this the food was mediocre and it's a little chilly in the theatre so you better eat your food fast.
(4)Nora B.
I would give zero stars if yelp allowed me. I had seen a movie here recently and everything was nice. Saw their advertisement for the Blackhawks Stanley Cup Viewing Party (game was on one of their theatre screens and everyone sat in seats like a normal movie). It sounded like a cool way to watch the game so I invited two other people with me. We arrived and commented the designated theatre seemed warm but gladly took our seats. The game began and we ordered some drinks as the room was getting hotter. We then ordered food which took almost an hour to be delivered to our seats (nachos are not an hour worthy wait!). We also ordered candy and due to the warmth of the theatre melted in the martini glasses the candy is served. The couple next to us were given the wrong drinks and food. We watched as other fans brought up the temperature to staff and one male associate loudly told the customer they were wrong and the air conditioning was on (well it might be on but it definitely was not working). We pay our tabs and leave from our drenched seats. The next day I check my bank statements and I was overcharged 60 dollars by the theatre. I stop by the theatre that day and speak to a manager (after asking an associate for the manager the first response was, "actually we are looking for him and can't seem to find him"). After explaining the situation about my account and receipt from the night before in hand, I'm told by the manager that I have to wait for the entire transaction to go thru and only after it has been completed can they give me credit. He then offers to handle the situation with better customer service and gives me an envelope, I look in it outside and was given one free movie pass. Overall, as a resident of Arlington Heights I'm appalled by a local business treating customers in such a fashion and making so many mistakes in one experience. I've never written a negative review for an establishment but felt this experience deserved such treatment.

I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place. It is absolutely hands down the best movie theater. The service is great, the food is awesome (especially the wings) and the chairs/ space is really great. I'm spoiled and I usually don't go to another theater after going to this one!

Overall I was disappointed in this theater. The mr. Big martini I ordered at the bar was weak, warm and served in a plastic glass. I understand that they are probably worried about broken glass, but ipic theaters still serve in glass. Chicken sandwich was decent. Tables in the theatre are too close and restricted even my leg room and I'm 5'4'. My 6'4" husband was really swished. Waiter in the theater forgot my drink all together. All in all, I'd rather drive to the ipic in barrington.

If you go on their website, it says Smurfs is playing at 6:30. Good thing my wife called, because the last showing is at 4:30 as she was told over the phone. It's ashame, because the employees there really work hard and treat their guests like kings and queens. Then someone screws up the showtimes on their website.

Date night with a potential suitor - we went to see the last showing (10:55 pm) of Elysium. The space and atmosphere was gorgeous and very clean. We arrived early, around 10:15 so we sat at the bar and order drinks. I had the Hally Berrylicious and later the Cherry Limeade. We headed to our theater only to find the theater wasn't finished from the last showing and the staff was still cleaning - 15 minutes before the movie started (a bit strange for me). Pluses - the cleanliness (completely different from more of the mainstream theaters), the courteous staff (they said "Enjoy the show" whenever we walked by one, and also "Thank you for coming" when we left), and comfy chairs. Minuses - the temperature of the theater (I WAS FREEZING and my date, who was wearing jeans and a long-sleeved shirt, was freezing as well. I was absolutely miserable the entire second half of the movie!), the drinks (they were very weak and shelled out $10 for each one - not worth it!!), the food (just meh - nothing great). Don't think I'm going back, unless I bring a blanket and a flask with me next time ...

This movie theater is a hidden gem! We found out by accident this was a dine in movie theater. We just wanted to watch a movie after dinner and it happened to be in the same complex. We walk in and the first thing you see is this awesome bar with velvet cushioned chairs and I thought to myself, that's pretty nice for the movies! Then we realized it was literally a movie and dinner! Unfortunately we just had dinner but that didn't stop me from ordering a cheesecake in the middle of the movie! It's like being at home and getting a snack only better! Awesome place, next time we are coming back for actual dinner here as well

This place has become my favorite of these dine in movie theaters. Better food and prices and great deals.

The idea is great. Order comfort food at your seat and it will be delivered to you. But I found the tables uncomfortably close to the seats and kept bumping my knee. Of course, the food was overpriced but we expected that. The cream leather seats made me feel like I was in my car at a drive-in theater in the good old days. Pricey but we felt good shaving off a buck and a half for the matinee experience. Staff was super friendly, mostly teenage kids, and happy to take us on a tour of the place. Novel experience but not for every weekend.

We enjoyed our night, and the value was great with the Groupon. The three of us went on Sunday night so not very crowded. The staff was very courteous, and attentive. The popcorn was good, prices for food were less than AMC theaters, but I felt that a refill on soda would be nice. It was a little distracting watching a movie with servers creeping, trying to be quiet, but still, we expected it and had fun. The quality of the screen and movie were a little less than other places. Fun place to go for a night out? Yes!

Today the Star Cinema Grill gets a pass, but they need to show me a better experience next time around. Clearly they've had some opening month hiccups, especially based on these ridiculous negative reviews, but it's actually something worth enjoying. First, the food is really good, and I did a little digging and found out that pretty much everything is freshly made except the pizza. Some of the problems early on HAD to be because of an inexperienced staff - which is what happened to us. They were completely disorganized, running around like chickens with their head's cut off. They messed up our order, and took forever to get our food out, which is nuts because you WRITE THE ORDER DOWN (trying to have a conversation about your order in the middle of the movie will make steam come out of your ears...) Another problem is that they redid the theaters and lobby, which look beautiful, but didn't upgrade the speakers - which are clearly blown. If you want people to have a theater experience FIRST and food SECOND, make sure you're up to the standards. And whomever designed this place is an absolute moron. The seats are low so every single server is walking in front of you crouched down like they still aren't in your way. It's a massive distraction, which could have been avoided with a better design, like higher booths (see Alamo Drafthouse, guys). So, why the higher score? The staff is supremely nice, the manager was beyond gracious with our issues, the food was good, and the concept is fun (even with design flaws). I think it's a matter of leveling your expectations and knowing what you're getting into. Just expect it to be DINNER and a movie, not MOVIE and a dinner (don't see anything with deep meaning because you'll lose the plot points while you watch for your order that may or may not come)... I'll update this after I give them a second chance; if they don't get their sht together, I'll be lowering the score a point.
(4)Bob L.
The theaters are very nice but the food is fantastic with very reasonable prices. I'd like to go there just for the food!
(5)Michael G.
This place is great! My wife and I have been here a couple of times and can't say enough good about Star Cinema Grill. The food has been outstanding and I never feel like the staff is in the way of the movie going experience. Was there tonight with an out of town guest and my kids and we all left very pleased with our whole experience.

My husband and I passed this spot several times during construction (as I was dragging him to Yogurtland) so we've been waiting to check out the new fancy theater when it opened. I suggested we hit up a movie mid-week so last Wednesday we dropped by. Turns out, the place apparently doesn't get much business during the week, so we were literally the only two souls in the theater. Every couple of seats has a table in front of it with menus and cards to write down your order. When you're ready to order you press a button and the server shows up and takes the card. They have a pretty standard American menu (cheeseburgers, chicken tenders, etc) with cute names like "Honey, I shrunk the sandwiches". I got the cheeseburger and my husband got the sliders and we both liked our food (but weren't raving about it). You can skip the sweet potato fries as they were pretty bland. They also have a full range of alcoholic beverages, as well as your standard movie-going fare of popcorn and candy. I like the concept of a literal restaurant combined with a movie but it's hard to get used to it in practice. I'm one of those people who likes to say "thank you" every time a plate gets cleared, my water gets refilled, etc, but it's hard to do that for a person you can barely see in the middle of a movie. They'll bring the bill about 45 minutes before the movie ends, but I think I would just prefer to wait to pay until the movie is over. It's almost a spoiler when you see them coming because then you know the fun is almost done. Also, in the middle of the movie the sound went out and it took the staff about ten minutes to fix it but they were super professional and apologetic about it and even gave us two passes to come back in the future - which I will definitely be using.
(4)Allison S.
I had high hopes for a great experience, but instead experienced an epic fail. Point blank, I waited an hour for a beer and our food never came. Our server didn't even know what a Green Line was, even though there was only four beers on the menu. Trying to explain the situation to her was like talking to chicken. She's looking at you and nodding her head, but you know the words cannot fit inside the little pea. I think that Elysium was a badass movie, but I couldn't tell based on the terrible sound system and the constant worry over our order. I guess the one star could be used for the proximity to the underground parking garage and short walking distance to a nice tapas place that THANK GOD was open late.

The only good thing I can say about the Star Cinema was that the movie Red 2 was very good. The prices are very high, the food is not very good and expensive, and the seats were not very comfortable for tall or large people. The table was to close to the seat and hard to get in and out. The waiters running around the theater were a major distraction and they kept coming back to check if we need anything during the movie. Also, this theater is not senior and children friendly with the high prices they charge to get into the movie. We spent tonight what we would normally spend going to Cinemax in Deer Park three times. They do not have a concession stand so everything has to ordered from a waiter so you need to tip them for the service. It took the waiter 3 tries to get my box of popcorn close to what I wanted but it still is not like telling someone at a concession stand how you wanted it. The menu was basically pub food without the talking you can do with everyone at the pub. Finally, they have the seats set with a table for each 2 seats. Since sometime people come alone or with three people or more, it cuts down where you can sit. We got there 30 minutes early and had to sit in the front row because there so many singles at the tables. How I miss the old Arlington Theater where they were friendly and liked families and children to come and enjoy themselves.

This place was interesting. I could see it being a place to go and drink with friend while watching a movie. There is a full bar in the lobby as well. The theater seats are comfortable, as my ass didn't get numb for the duration of the movie. Service is friendly and attentive. Staff said hello and good bye, which is quite nice to hear these days. Not sure if I would eat a meal here, as I like to watch movies and not be distracted, though others have said the food is good. Just not my thing. Most of the seating seems to designed for two people to share a table. For parties of three, there are tables in the middle which allow three, though the seat in the middle may be tough in and out for those not fully able. One small suggestion - rather than attaching the table posts to the middle of the table, why not mount it on the outside edge? This way the posts will not be in the way for people with long legs. Poor design choice, but not terrible. Also, I wish I could really like the Sony 4K projectors. The one in Theater 2 seemed a bit slow (slight ghosting), and the projector has a sight defect - as there are 4 vertical lines quite evident, along with a stuck pixel cluster to the left of center screen. Highly annoying to me, but most likely not an issue with the majority of people.

Decided to try the movie theater to see The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Since the movie has been out for a few weeks now, the theater wasn't too packed (and it was NYE). I thought this movie theater was great. I read a bunch of reviews about people complaining about the waiters walking by. What do you expect with an dinner/drinks movie theater? It didn't bother me at all. Yes, they could have made the seats higher but I hardly noticed it. Now on an opening night movie, then it could get annoying with a ton more people. The place was incredibly clean and updated with a great bar. The seats are way more comfortable than a normal movie theater. Even though we had dinner before the movie, the smell of everyones food got us hungry for something to eat. We ended up getting mozzarella sticks and the brownie al amode. The mozzarella sticks were really good, better than most restaurants actually. The brownie was ok, it wasn't really that warm and just kind of tasted like a Jewel brownie. The diet coke seemed huge, so you got what you paid for. For wine, beer, sticks, dessert and a coke it was about $40 with tax & tip. I really like this place and will definitely be going back.

It was very nice inside, nice bar area as well. The theater had very comfortable leather seats and the wait staff was awesome. The only problem I had was the overpriced food for such a small portion.
(3)Amber D.
We have been to this theatre many times and have always had a pleasant visit. However, I am a bit bent out of shape regarding tonights visit. We got to the theatre a few minutes before our movie was to start. There was no one at the booth to get our tickets. After standing outside, looking for someone we finally tried the doors. The first one was locked, but the second one was open so we went in. There was not one person around. We stood there for a few minutes and waited and waited and nothing. Finally, an employee came in who had been outside smoking and asked us if anyone was around. He then went and knocked on a door and the girl came running out. She was apologetic and rang up our tickets. When we left the theatre there was not a person in sight. This is very poor customer service. I'm not sure we'll be returning. It's not any cheaper to go here then any other theatre so we'll give our business to someone who wants it.
(2)Adam F.
It's hard to get comfortable in the seating.. kind of awkward. It's weird to tip for food service in a movie when all you want is popcorn and a drink .. the candy selection is very small. I've been there 3 times .....Groupons. I would not go otherwise. It's great having a movie theater in town again. This one is just awkward.
(2)Kevin K.
The tables in front of the seats make it uncomfortable. You can't cross your legs and you're tight in your seat. Also, the waitstaff is running back and forth in front of you bringing food and drink to the people who order from their seat. The leather seats are also hot to sit in for two hours.
(2)Danita J.
I love going to the movies and this theater does not disappoint! The theater is extremely clean and the chairs are comfortable. They do not recline but are comfortable none the less. The lobby is cool. The restrooms are perfect and have nice added touches I have only seen in upscale restaurants. The food is reasonably priced and good. This is not iPic though but it is much less expensive. It does take a few minutes if they are busy so make sure you put your order in as soon as you decide. I might bring a light jacket with me but that is much better than being hot & stuffy in a theatre. Bring on the winter....because this is where I will be enjoying it!
(5)Sebastian R.
At first glance its WOW! Then you sit in nice white leather seats with ample room, everything is fine and dandy until you see food prices, way to over priced but I said ok ill try it, it must be great food, holy crap was I disappointed I ordered the 3 amigos which is kinda like a sample platter of their sides, all of which were fried very gross, especially when they brought it out cold, I called the server back and she brought it back with a negative attitude, we then ordered our main course, I ordered thee driest burger i have ever gotten, they must press there burgers cause mine was more of a beef puck. overall very disappointed When I spoke the the "General Manager" not only did he look like some cheap lawyer with gold chains but he had nothing but excuses for me. Very crappy experience I went in expecting way more than what I was presented with i will never be going back IPIC is way Better with more locations in Barrington and Rosemont. Overall im very disappointed because the place is very close for me. DONT GO TO STAR CINEMA GROSS! save your Money

Just saw Divergent on huge screen and very comfortable chairsThis move was made in Chicago and takes place after a supposed war. Big Brother is sort of the plot..It is like watching a remake and updated version of 1984. I did enjoy it though, lots of actions and scary parts too. I did not order any food this first time will do it when I go see Noah (not the first day, using a Groupon discount is $6 for the movies but not on the first day shown) I will get something then or try to go on Thursday when they have special prices on some items like $5 off on the regular cost of a pitcher of beer.. I do see and like the eating part "before the movie starts" however after it starts it is annoying to see waiters and waitresses are running back and forth (ducking down some, but still running in front of you). One guy dropped two glasses of drinks right in front of me and on a couple in chairs to his right. Too dark for people to be running back and forth balancing food and drinks on trays. I think there should be a "cutoff point" of this serving food and beverages. Once the movie is to start there should be a warning of no more orders to be filled or delivered. They also ask you to turn your phone off and no texting either. Fun Sunday way to enjoy the day and be inside out of the 20 degrees weather. Great idea and it was quiet with no kids or such to deal with. Rather empty but it just started doing business so spread the word and more will start to come there.Parking garage just below the theatre too and stairs and elevator to it and from it. Will be going more often. Too bad they don't due double features any more, but some of the movies are over 2 hours long. Check it out you will not be disappointed.

Hi, I am not one to usually write reviews but I just wanted to let people know what a great experience it was seeing a movie at Star Cinema Grill. The atmosphere is so elegant, you feel like you are going to a special hollywood premier. The food is awesome and such a selection, I had the macaroni and cheese and it is to die for!! The price is fair, like any other theatre and restaurant you go to! I will only be going to movies at SCG from now on a truly great experience!!

(5)Kris V.
They have very good food for a theater. Better than all the others we have been too. Love the push button service through out the movie. Gold Class used to do it but stopped when it changed to iPic. The service here is excellent. And they show football on the big screen. Sold.

The best theater in Illinois. My fiance and I really enjoyed this theater. The food was delicious. A wonderful environment. This was worth the 45 minute drive we took. Reasonable prices

It was very nice inside, nice bar area as well. The theater had very comfortable leather seats and the wait staff was awesome. The only problem I had was the overpriced food for such a small portion.

(3)Samantha G.

(1)N C.
I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place. It is absolutely hands down the best movie theater. The service is great, the food is awesome (especially the wings) and the chairs/ space is really great. I'm spoiled and I usually don't go to another theater after going to this one!
(5)Danita J.

(5)Amber D.
(2)Sebastian R.

Oh, and always make sure to see if they changed their policy AGAIN... smh...
(3)Amber K.
(4)Robert Q.
(4)Samantha R.
(2)Karolina S.
Absolutely fantastic experience!!! I have a feeling that Village of AH restricts them from doing something to the uninviting exterior but inside will blow you away. Very modern and clean. Food and drinks were surprisingly good (I did not expect to find quality food in the movie theater)
(5)Katie S.
I always go to Star Cinema Grill with my best friend to watch a movie. The food is good, the seats are comfy, good movies and wonderful staff.
(5)Alfred C.
(3)Larry K.
(5)Tracy M.
(5)Gerry A.
Enjoy!

It's a nice theater. Prices were a little high and parking can be a little challenging. But the seats were comfortable

i absolutely love star cinema grill! the prices are extremely reasonable, the food is pretty darn good (esp for a movie theater), and you don't need to get up during the middle of the movie to go get some popcorn. what could be better?

Came here got great service, good selection of drinks and comfortable seats. I would definitely come here again recommend this to others. I will say this the food was mediocre and it's a little chilly in the theatre so you better eat your food fast.
